JEWELS GET THE FASHION TREATMENT AT CHARM
Inauguration of the Vicenza Fair spring appointment for the gold and jewellery sector
Today (Saturday 17 may 2008, - Ed.) saw inauguration of CHARM, the Vicenza Fair spring appointment for the gold and jewellery sector. Until 21 May the city is once again the showcase par excellence for the world of jewellery and Italy production.
The inauguration ceremony was held in Pavilion B-One during the morning, with participation by Regional, Provincial and Local political authorities and representatives of the main local economic categories.
During his opening speech, the president of the Vicenza Fair, Dino Menarin, recalled that the "first task of a fair is to always be proactive and to sense all the signals from the market, entrepreneurs and companies. Recovery in consumption is directed mainly at glamorous jewellery products, with more quality, style and design content”.
CHARM thus presented its absolute new entry, Glamroom, a venue for total contamination between jewel, fashion and fashion design. For the first time, cutting-edge products are presented inside a functional framework designed by Aldo Cibic, described by Vogue Gioiello and shaped by new names in the production world.
This new direction taken by the Vicenza Fair and the gold jewellery sector was marked also by the presence of Mario Boselli, president of CNMI, the Italian Chamber of Fashion.
“The presence of so many authorities is an important signal of the attention that CHARM has aroused, proof of the significance that this event has for its territory", commented Boselli. “Fashion and jewellery, clothing and precious ornaments finally come together also on the retail front, with good attendance by qualified international fashion buyers”.
The presence of the Thai Minister for Industry and the Vice Prime Minister, Suwit Khunkitti, and the consul for South Africa, Nomie Nokwe, lent an even more international feel to the event.
On the operator front, the first day of CHARM showed good foot traffic through the pavilions and in the afternoon there was a visit by Claudia Gerini, swathed in a splendid emerald green dress and announcing the arrival of summer, despite the driving rain. The actress posed for photographers in Glamroom and was enchanted by the dazzling world of Italian jewellery and design and fascinated by the articles showcased by exhibitors. To mention just a few: Massimo Crivelli, Ugo Cacciatori and Klaus Lohmeyer, Sharra Pagano, Bochic, Scintilla Monaco, Caterina Zangrando, Misis, Nuove Gioie and Orobianco.
