FOREIGN MARKETS AND TECHNOLOGY UNDER THE VIORO2 LENS
The reference show for world jewelry from 20 to 24 May at the Vicenza Fair.

Vicenza, 07/04/2006- Vicenzaoro2, the Vicenza Fair’s international exhibition of gold, jewelry, silverware, watches and gemstones will take place from 20 to 24 May 2006. Strategically placed in mid year, Vicenzaoro2 allows companies and buyers to take stock of fashion trends and market tendencies thanks to the extremely high product quality. This year’s exhibition will have an interesting prologue in the form of the Jewelry Technology Forum on Thursday 18 and Friday 19 May, with the most authoritative world spokesmen on gold technology taking part. The JTF is also the best possible introduction to Oromacchine, the most important presentation of technology applied to working precious metals in the world, taking place alongside Vicenzaoro2 in Pavilion L. The programme of presentations and speakers is available on-line at www.vicenzaoro.org. The show that will see more than 1600 exhibitors from 28 countries in a total exhibition area of 56,000 square metres in 15 pavilions will get under way on Saturday 20 May. More than 500 buyers from 25 countries have been invited, organised into delegations promoted by the Vicenza Fair in association with the ICE, the World Gold Council and Italian and foreign Chambers of Commerce. The programme of conferences will be opened by the Trends Jewelry Forecasting seminar on 2006/7 autumn/winter fashion trends. This will be repeated on Monday 22, looking at forecasts already being made for 2008. On Sunday 21 the focus is on jewelry wholesalers, with a conference organised by the Italian Federation of Gold, Jewelry and Silverware Wholesalers, and on Gemology, with the Gemological Day organised by CISGEM on ‘the bill concerning gemological names: content and implications for the gold sector’. On Monday 22 May the Vicenza Fair and the World Gold Council are organising Strategies and Trends of Gold Expressions 2006, and an interesting seminar on the gold market in China the following day. The meeting on design and communication organised by the Vicenza Fair and the Milan Polytechnic on Tuesday 23 deserves a separate mention. It is the last of six meetings that began in September 2005 and have looked at the theme of design as a strategic resource for innovation in the gold company. Discussions have centred on design and production, design and strategy, design and copyright, design and location, design and research and now, finally, design and communication. The material gathered at these meetings will now be reworked and processed by the gold design department at the Milan Polytechnic, which will produce a kind of ‘white book’ of Italian gold design. The exhibition of the Gold Expressions 2006 collection in Gallery G-C must finally also be noted.
